BLD Looking for Umpires BIG LEAGUE DREAMS UMPIRING INFORMATION The fabulous new Big League Dreams Sports Park will be starting softball league play the week of February 8, 2010. We are in the process of recruiting our in house umpire staff. Experienced umpires will start at $17 per game. We will offer training for new umpires as well. A few of the advantages of working at BLD include: · Some league nights will offer five game sets · Games feature 55 minute time limits · No worries about not being paid for forfeits · Umpires receive free soda and half priced food while working · Controlled entrance and exit with staffed secure environment · Unbelievable park amenities · Possible day leagues as park popularity increases · You are paid by check with appropriate 1099’s so no IRS issues affiliated with cash payments As BLD starts to thrive it will cut into the amount of work that other municipalities can offer. Vegas Valley Umpires (VVU) is an amateur umpire association that supplies umpires for Little Leagues, Adult Baseball Leagues and Tournaments in the Las Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder City areas as well as the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Youth Baseball League. VVU has been providing this service for over 18 years.
The association is owned by David and Carol Ruegge and operated by Carol and Chris Schultz. We are looking forward to the challenges ahead this season in helping the youth of our community stay active in sports while earning an income and learning work ethics, in addition to keeping them off the streets. We have found this to be a great job for the youth in our community in experiencing conflicts that may occur in life. Our goal is to promote excellence, professionalism and fair play, not only in “The Game”, but also in life. The umpires interact with adults as well as other youth. We provide umpires to leagues Monday thru Saturday allowing the umpire to work as little or as much as they desire. VVU will work around their educational and extra curricular schedules.
